Hey guys,

 

I bought a new rod from Abu Garcia and was curious to know what the loop is used for on the rod closest to the reel. On most other other rods it's used to attach lure when storing but the loop is so flat on the rod, it's really hard to attach any type of lure. Is this in fact what it is there for? Any way to make it easier to attach lure?

That is to run a hook under. Yours might have gotten squashed flat I can not tell from your picture angle.

 

These are great because you can slide the hook under without removing a trailer off a bait like a jig.

 

Go here and mouse over the first picture of the rod. You can see how that hook keeper should be just above the rod blank.
