I see the new Dobyns Champion Extreme HP casting rods are supposed to be an upgrade as compared to the older Extremes. I have one of the older Extremes purchased about four years ago, and I really like it.

 

My question is this. For those who have fished both the older Extremes or the Hp Extreme, what is your opinion of the new Extreme HP line. I own several Dobyns rods and have been satisfied. I am considering buying the 744 in the Hp Extreme with a split handle. I have heard they have had a problem with the reel seats, but I do not know if that is true or not.

 

I would like some input before buying because they are not the cheapest rods around. Will use it primarily for Texas rigging and jigs.
