In maine I fish a lake that is typically clear, every August/September the lake has algae blooms. The algae only turns the color of the water to green with less than a foot of visibility. With this condition should i fish it like muddy water (flip hard cover and throw big spinnerbaits and jigs) or still fish it like normal (wacky rig and shaky heads)

Gosh...this brings back memories of fishing "Brownlee Res." on the Oregon ... Idaho boarder.  Algae was thick and in the mornings you could hear thousands of carp slurping on the surface on the shady side.  We would just try to find clearer water down stream and did ok.  I remember fishing pockets in a lot of rock walls....good luck.

what kind of baits would you throw? would you throw louder baits because of the clarity?

I would try a black and blue chatterbait with a Blue Sapphire Menace Grub as a trailer or junebug zoom superfluke trailer.

^^^This. Look for clearer water. Usually where a stream or river enters. Also there are gonna be areas that hold bass no matter what. Rocks are always a good place to start. A dams rock wall, isolated humps, lay down logs and, of course, lily pads are all a good start. As far as lures, let the conditions tell you what to throw. If temps are warm. slow down. If its cooling down. speed up.
