Trolling Motor Connection (Plug-in)

Featured Replies

I recently purchase a new 24v TM (Minn Kota 70v2 pd/ap/us2 bow mount).  I re-wired my boat for 6 ga. wire, due to less resistance to try and extend battery life.  I thought I had bought the correct plug-in but I was wrong.  I purchased a Marinco receptacle (4 wire post 12/24v) and Marinco Plug (Jumpered internally for 12v & 24v).  With the Marinco apparently you wire both batteries to the receptacle, this is not what I want.  I looked on web and am having a hard time finding a connector that will handle 6 ga. wire, most are limited at 8 ga.  If anyone is using 6 ga. please any info would be appreciated.

I am not 100% sure I follow but if I do here is how mine is wired. On the bow there is a little rectangle box where my plug in goes. it's a 35 amp plug like that last link. I tried to find 50 amp plug ins with no success. My mechanic said it would be fine. From that plug in the main power to the batteries (then to the 40 amp fuses) is 6 guage wire.

My trolling motor is an minn kota 70lb and it ran fine yesterday. If I didn't understand you correctly, sorry just trying to help. ;D

I appreciate everyone's response to the post.  I did some research while waiting for the experience of this site & their opinion's.  This is for a Minn Kota TM.  I found (for 6 ga wire) Minn Kota plug & receptacle part number (Minn Kota) MKR-18 and MKR-18A in addition to.  The MKR-18 is the basic plug and receptacle (8 ga would work for this) the MKR-18A is a 6 ga adapter that will plug into the back of the receptacle accepting 6 ga wire.

Pre-Spawn is COMING !!!!!

Minn Kota = ConnectPro, same stuff in different wrappers all made by Marinco.
