Can't go wrong with either Eagle unit.  I have a 320 on the bow of my boat and if I had to do it over again I would go with the 480.

I have the Eagle 480 and like it very much.  I think it is just about the best black & white unit you can get for the money.

is there much of a diffrence between the clarity on the 320 and 480 or is it minimal? i would like to save the 50 bucks but if it really is worth it ill go with the 480

I have a 480 and love it, I would buy it again.  If you have a Dick's Sporting goods around you I got a $10 off $25 coupon.  Everything helps.... :)  PM me if you want it.

yeah i do have a dicks right up the street i go there for everyhting and thinking about it i thinki have a gift card comin in after spending 300 there

Get the humminbird 565.  Higher res screen (more pixels) higher power sonar and dual beam transducer for the same money as the eagle 480.  The humminbirds offer more for the same price.

BassPro had the 480 on sale a little while back.  It was $50 off w a sale price of $150.  Good luck.

If it's resolution you want, get the one with the most pixels.

i do want a clear screen im tired of a blotchy lookin mess i cant tell what anything is usually lol. but i just really want somethin very accurate i can trust and know what its showing is there

Not to throw another wrench into it, but Gander Mountain is clearancing last years finders...I got the Humminbird Matrix 67 with GPS for 299.00

I've had it out twice and the detail is pretty unbelievable for the price.

Maybe check with your local store and see what they've got?

Just my .02 since you're still brand shopping.

This is an interesting topic to me, because I have a Humminbird 565 mounted at the console of my boat, and I'm looking to replace the bow sonar I currently have with an Eagle Fishmark 320.

I'm pretty pleased with my Humminbird.  It has very good resolution (640 vertical pixels, 320 horizontal).  I played with the Eagle Fishmark 320 at a local store and it looked really good also.  The only complaint I have about my Humminbird is that it loses the bottom signal around 50 mph.  I have my transducer mounted in the bilge, installed with fiberglass resin, levelled, etc.  The Lowrance guys all claim that their units can read the bottom at 70 mph.  This would not be any concern if you were mounting the unit on your bow though.  At trolling speeds I'm very happy with the picture I get on my Humminbird.  The 640 veritcal pixels really do give a nice, clear picture.

To sum it up, I don't think you can go wrong with either unit.  They are both very comparable.

I have the 320 and couldn't be happier

I recently picked up a 320 and really like it.  Also, what was nice is Academy has been having them on sale for $136---makes it really nice.

You can't beat the 480, the bird may have more pixels but the 480 is alot clearer. The bird 565 always seems blurry to me, not very crisp. I had the same problem with it loosing bottom at higher speeds. I had the 565 at my console and got rid of it, I put a 320 there now with the ducer mounted in the bilge. Works great even at 60mph. I have a 480 on the bow. If you want to find structure, spend the extra $$$ and get the 480.
