Boat/Trailer Xfer from MD to PA Question

Featured Replies

Good Day -

What is all involved if I buy a used boat in MD where the boat and trailer are both registered in MD but I need to xfer both to a PA reg?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

As long as they are registered it is easy. If you belong to AAA just take it there and they will do it very fast and easy. If your not, check your local notary and they can do it. Like I said as long as you have the resignations from MD its easy to xfer them. Its when you don't have the registrations it gets hard. if your buying from a dealer see if they can do it. I live in PA.  My father does too and he bought a boat in MD last year and the dealer did the xfer for him.

I live in Maryland and have bought boats from Pa. in the past both new and used.

Pa. can not do the department of motor vehicle or the department of natural recourses paper work for you in Maryland. You have to do it yourself. Meaning you personally have to go to the DMV and DNR to pay your taxes and transfer tags and titles etc.

If you are buying the boat used, just make sure you have the original documents and that they are filled out correctly and completely, otherwise you will have to make another trip.
