Line spooling tips
Anyone have any theories/myths/tips for spooling line onto baitcasters vs. spinning reels? Should you wind the line on opposite the way it layed on the storage spool? I have the Berkley spool station so the spools stand on end rather then lay flat like if you would just do it on the floor. Just looking for tips to help reduce line twisting etc.

Fried 30 AMP fuse
I have a 55# MK All Terrain on the bow of my 14' fisher jon boat. We used it for most of the day on the #1 setting then decided to use it on #5 to head back to dock. After about 2 minutes on 5 speed the motor clicked off and smoke came pouring out of the inline fuse holder. We burnt a hole right through the 30 AMP fuse. We use 10 GA wire and a 27 group deep cycle battery. Any ideas why the fuse just didn't trip? I have my batteries mid boat so the wire run isn't more then 6 ft.

St. Croix M vs. G Loomis MH
I have a St. Croix M casting rod and a G Loomis MH Casting rod. While the G Loomis is a MH it is rated for the exact same lure weight and line size as the St. Croix M. Is this true through out both brand of rods?

Life Jacket rules for tourney fishing
What are they generally? I saw a wait type PFD at Cabelas that inflates once it hits water. Do they have to be auto or will manual inflating jackets meet tourney fishing rules for B.A.S.S.?

Great Stuff Spray Foam
I have a nice casting deck on the front of jon boat but it obviously has added some weight to it. Will spraying a can or two of that spray foam inside the front of the boat under the deck increase my boyancy? My dad says no it won't it will just hold the front up if the boat starts to sink. Anyone try this?? Thanks

Braid Diameter Inquiry
I am looking to put some 30# braid on my Shimano Castaic. However I have a question. The braid is equal to 8# diameter and my reel is meant to operate the best with 10# - 12# diameter line. How does utilizing braid at a lower diameter then what your reel is rated for effect the performance of your outfit? Thanks

Good Old Aluminum Boat Question
I just purchased a used 14' aluminum boat with a 15hp Yamaha, Minn Kota All Terrain TM, Lowrance X47, and a trailer. The boat just needs some minor TLC in some areas. The back of the boat has a bunch of white stuff on it (I forge tthe boating term) and at certain spots around the tie down hooks it seems to have eaten a bit of the metal away. There is some JB Weld in some of the holes but there is 2 screws below my water line where it looks like it is pitting as well. Honestly I don't want to dump a ton of money into the boat because what I paid for is really the motors and that's it. What would be best to seal these problem areas up? My goal is to seal them and find the best spraypaint (yes spray paint) primer and top coat to cover it. Let me know if you have any "Marine Bondo" type recommendations as well as an ok spray pint brand that will somewhat adhere to aluminum with some prep. Thanks!!!

Scenario to test your mind
Trying to make everyone think......... We are fortunate to be in a sport with a ton of different manufacturers for everything we need. Now if you could only use soft plastics for the entire year and were given a M action casting outfit fishing ponds and lakes for LM and SM which plastics would you rig? You can only use one color for each season so you should have 4 answers. Lets see what everyone thinks. Ex. Summer: Zoom U Tail in Pumpkinseed with a 1/0 T-rig and a 1/8 bullet sinker

Christmas Cranking Reel
Citica 201D....this reel is amazing for the money. Nothing...yes nothing compares to it. Lash some YoZuri Hybrid on there and you have yourself a winner. FYI I also use the 6'6" M St. Croix Premier Caster with my Citica..a truely balanced outfit IMHO
