Jack Plate????

Featured Replies

;) Good Morning!

Thanx for the input on my post "Help on a motor"

I have not found ne thing to keep from the 2 stroke 50HP as of yet.

Before I have this motor installed, could some of you tell me about Jack Plates please.

Pros and Cons if any cons.

And how big a motor can you run a Mini Jacker on, if anyone knows?

If I put a Jack Plate on, can it be used on a bigger boat later?

Again, Triton 1650SC is what I have.

Thanx

I've put jack plates on outboards from 25-50 HP with up with great success, better hole shot, top end, and above all you can run shallower.

They are very popular down south on aluminum boats with small outboards and can be picked up for under $200. They are not hard to build so everyone around here builds their own.

Ya thanx catt.

I think Ima hold off on a JP.

Terry tells me he can set this 50 up so I can access a lil shallower water and gain a wee bit of performance. 3 bills for a manual JP and the sound he made when I asked about power ;). LOL

Think I'll save this JP money for the rising fuel cost! Plus I got a friend that can probably build one for me way cheaper.

Thanx for all the help folks. :)

the minijacker is good for 35hp max

I just put a 6 in jack plate on a v hull with a 75hp and it was a big improvment. I got it on ebay for $75

I have a CMC 6" adjustable on a Tracker 17SC Deep V with a 90hp merc the biggest improvement that I have seen is less top end loss with 2 or 3 people om board although I haven't finished adjusting it to find the sweet spot I'm doing a little at time say 1/4" increments. Eventually I will find the sweet spot and I'm expecting a 2 to 3mph increase in top end speed.
