Spinning frog rod

Featured Replies

I know a kid who's really just starting to seriously get into fishing, and I'm trying to help him find a decent spinning rod to be used for frogs.  I have a fury for my frogging, but he's not super comfortable fishing baitcasters so he's sticking with spinning for now.  Budget is about 60-70$, looking for one with a lite tip but a hard backbone.  He will mostly be throwing 1/4 ounce pad crasher juniors, mostly around docks and not a lot of heavy cover, so no broom sticks and a softer tip than would normally be wanted for frogs.

I use my first generation Veritas for this, 6'9" medium. Gets the job done for me.  Also, I use a Lake Fork trailer hook which greatly increases my hook up ratio when I use a frog.

The newer generation Veritas may work even better.  Good luck with your search
