Kipawa prop problem???

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a Kipawa prop for my Minn Kota 40AT. The first time I used it on the water I noticed it was LOUD, so loud I immediately took it off and put the factory prop back on. I was fishing really shallow water and I know it would have spooked fish.

For anyone who has one, did you notice it being louder?

I checked it over and over, it was on correctly, it spun evenly when out of the water.

Is this normal or did I get a bad one?

I have one on my 74 Auto Pilot with no conditions that you describe. I ordered mine direct from Kipawa maybe you were sent the wrong one for your motor I'd call both the vender you purchased it from and Minn Kota.

On dry land put the Kipawa prop back on and turn it by hand, see if anything is rubbing , scraping etc. Also check for any wobble.

First, if your minn-kota is still under warranty do not tell them about the kipawa prop. They will void your warranty.

Second, check for a bent shear pin. If it is bent it will cause the prop to wobble and make noise.

Third, Check for fishing line or other stuff wrapped around the shaft.

I actually noticed less noise and vibration with my kipawa than factory.

godd afternoon,

i love my prop and do not have any of the noise problems you mentioned. i really fish shallow water (less than 5') and keep the speed on 2 to 3, depending on the weeds and wind.....i have the MK40 edge....

good luck,

The prop is the correct size, all the other problems everyone mentioned to look for was done prior to me asking this question.

My motor is out of warranty.

The prop spins smoothly and no wobble, it's just plain loud.

I'm gonna call Kipawa......
