That's a hog! I'm not the best judge of fish by pics but I'd put it at maybe six pounds? Just take all the guesses and average them ;)

Thank you for your response.

Welcome!

A fish with those measurements would go 6 pounds very easily, and probably bigger. For reference, I caught one a few years ago that was just over 22" long and 17" around that weighed 7.76 pounds.

Thank you for your comment.

What a hawg! you catch that in Minnesota? That is a VERY impressive fish for up here. Kudos! What did you catch her on?

Yeah caught in Minnesota. Minnesota doesn't have that much of big bass so catching a 5LB+ is really special. Caught her on Gary Yamamoto senko.

Hey guys, I’m a new guy here but this site has a length/girth calculator at this address. Btw, if the fish was 21.5”X16” it’s estimated weight is 7 1/4lbs A truly GIANT Minnesota bass. Nice freakin job brother

Thank you! Without the measurements and just by looking at the picture yourself, what do you think he weights? A honest answer please positive or negative. I just what to know your honest answer?

Nice and welcome

Based on the length and looking at the picture, I'd say 6lbs.  She has the bulk to be over 5lbs but really doesn't have the big head & shoulders you typically see on 7 or 8lb fish.  Then again, I have never caught any bass north of Missouri, so I don't know if the carpetbaggers have the same look as their rebel (non-Florida) cousins as they get larger.

As for the picture, you should have told everyone that it was taken just as a total eclipse was starting to darken the area...

Welcome to the forum. You caught a very nice northern strain largemouth bass that should be somewhere in the low 6 pound range based on the formula Length times Length times Girth divided by 1200( 21.5*21.5*16/1200=6.16 pounds). This formula is a good estimate that is usually off a couple ounces +/-. I find that other online bass weight calculators to be a bit too generous in weight estimates of bass based on my experience of weighing 100's of big bass. Weighing a bass is by far the most accurate way of knowing how much a bass weights so it is a good idea to carry a digital scale in your tackle box.

Thank You So Much For Your Answer! Just bought a scale so I won't be having any problems guessing the weight now. During that time I didn't have any scale so I just measure them with a tape measure and record the length and girth then go home and search on the internet how much they weight. I caught many bass at 19 inch, some range from high 3 to low 4(With my brother and he has a scale). When I measure the girl she was over 20 inch and with a huge girth and right there I knew she had to be 5lbs or higher. Again Thank You for comment!

Your arms must be "ugly" too since you blacked them out as well ?. Just teasin ya man. Solid 5lber for sure.
