combo suggestions

Featured Replies

Hi all. This is my first post. I'm wanting to purchase a rod and reel combo dedicated to 1/32 oz. beetle spins and would like to know what rod power and action would be the best and what reel inch per turn i should be looking for? thanks

Welcome,

I would look for something very finesse oriented and spinning. Probably going to want 2-4 #line, a 500 sized or other micro reel, and certainly an ultra light rod. Something suited to smaller stream trout or panfish would be ideal.

was More interested in knowing if I needed a moderate or fast moderate fast extra fast etc. ultralights a given. a reel that's 2-6lbs rated is a given too but most I've seen are really slow turn. I've searched under spinnerbait apps and found differing results. kvd says fast reel spinnerbaits and I try trust him yet every beetle spin topic I've read on here....15 pages of threads worth saysmost people slow roll them so I'm up in the air...

Alright guys, so I didn't get the responses I was hoping for and that's ok so I'm gonna try an alternative route. I'm not going to spend alot of money on this in the beginning but tell me if you guys think this will be ok.

Berkley Cherrywood ultralight fast action think it's 5'6" and a lewsMr. crappie spinning reel. size 1000 with 24" per turn. will that work for my needs?

How much does a 1/32 oz beetle spin weigh including the beetle, blades, wire and 1/32 oz jig? My guess is this 1/32 oz beetle spin is a crappie lure?

I don't know as I don't have a scale. good question though. I'm gearingit just towards having fun when big ones aren't biting and for wife and kids. my medium and medium heavy rods don't cast them.
