Yo-Zuri 3DB Medium Diving Cranks

Featured Replies

Does anybody use these? They look decent and they say they dive down to 6 - 8ft. which is the spot I'm looking for as i have the shallow divers 3 - 5ft. and the wake/super shallow divers at 0 - 1ft. They are on sale at Sierra Trading Post for $4 each.

yes i do i have actually had a few days where i caught 5+ fish on them as well as the deep version. i really like the prism colours, which i know are mainly to attract me not so much the fish but they have done well for me at a small local place with clearish water (more of a reservoir type lake) but i have caught decent largemouth and smallmouth on them

Do you find they dive the 6 - 8ft. as advertised?

Which is better, round bodied/billed vs. flat bodied/coffin billed?

They are really good baits but they are big bodied and they have an aggressive action. I can hit bottom in 6' with 10lb mono but I wouldn't use these in water under 60 degrees just because they have that wide action. At the prices you've found them I'd grab a few for next year during the late August, early September Fall transition, that 5' to 7' zone is right were we do well for big fish until the water temp drops into the 60s and that is when the square bill bite really gets going.

I stumbled unto the Yo-Zuri cranks after having issues with a pair of Mann’s -1s (later found out it was poor hook quality which has been corrected with changing out to Owners trebles).

I've got the shallow divers, medium divers, and square bills.  I’ve never measured the running depth on the medium divers, but I have no problem crashing them into the bottom of the shallow lakes and ponds that I bank fish. Navionics has Lake Santiago listed as 6ft with two areas at 8ft, and this is one of the lakes I have had success catching bass in by crashing the medium divers into the bottom. I’m running them in 30lbs braid, no leaders, and still getting good depth from them.

As result of the success I’ve had with the 3DB series, I now have Yo-Zuri 3DB series for cranks, lipless, poppers, props, and jerks. They get beat up as I’ve had lots of fish hit them from 2” juvenile sunfish to channel cats and even gar.
