Bigfoot trolling motor buttons...

Featured Replies

Anyone here have any problems with them? I've had one for about 7-8 months now and it just quit working. someone told me they get water in them and don't last too long. I have no choice but to get a new one. There's not way I'm going to operate the off/on by hand. Maybe this was just a fluke???

I've used them ever since they were invented having two on each boat I've owned, my suggestion would be to check the wiring.

You know... I bought another one and began taking off the old one when I found out that the guy who installed it didn't heat up the heat shrink enough and the connector was wet and green with corrosion! I paid Phillips (Central Florida Trolling Motors) $1,200 for the trolling motor, batteries, wiring, install, ETC... and this is what I got. I stopped by there Monday and the guy was a jerk to me. Told me that nothing was under warranty and then wanted me to pay for him looking at it for 5 minutes! Then he told me to get out of the store. Anyway, I fixed it myself. It's just sad that some people are so nice until after you pay for their service and then it the old "screw you" deal. >;)

I used those back in the day and really never had problems with them.I installed mine myself and made sure everything was wired correctly.Sure beats the hail out of constantly having to operate on/off by hand.

I agree. It's a must have. Sad part is, the guy at Phillips, blamed it on the bigfoot and told me to take it up with them. I now realize it was just his shoddy attempt at wiring it up!

Lesson well learned  ;)

Ok, let's see if I get this.

Your talking about transom mounted TM's that are operated by hand, not foot pedal.

There is an aftermarket switch that will turn the motor on/off from a remote location.

Right?

question.

Is it wireless?

Do you clip to your belt or what?

thanks.

Actually, I'm talking about a bow mounted 82# thrust Motorguide in my case. However, the Bigfoot button can be hooked up to any trolling motor, even transom mounted, but is not wireless. You control it with a button using your foot. Here  it is. Hope this helps!

Designed to fit all hand-operated 12V or 12/24V trolling motors, this trolling motor foot switch is equipped with two switches in one: momentary and on/off, has a foot or hand-activated on/off lever and comes with 32'' heavy-duty marine wiring. Recommended and used by Tommy Martin, professional bass angler and fishing guide. Installation and wiring required.

Wal-Mart has them for $12 and some change.
