What outboard motor size would you suggest to put on a 14 ft john boat

How many people are going to be in the boat and how big are the lakes you fish? Is speed a big factor?

9.9 to 20 or whatever the boat is rated for.  You could get away with more than the rating, but it is not needed.  You will get there in reasonable time with a 9.9.  A 15 might be perfect.  If the boat is rated for more, and you can afford it, go for it.  If not, a 9.9 will make ya move.

I use a 9.9 on HP restricted waters where I can't run my 25.  Other than then, I run a 25.

What is the max HP for the boat?

do you fish and HP restricted waters?

after that buy close to the hp rating. If it is maxx at 25 hp  and you don't have any HP limits, then somethig around 20-25 would be the best.  Now, if you fish some 10hp limited lakes then a 9.9 would be good, or better a 15 with 9.9 stickers

There usually will only be me in the boat or maybe one other person...   speed is not much of a factor I just need to get to one spot to the other....  I couldn't find any max HP on the boat so I don't know...   I assume it's something around 25...  I don't fish restricted water so that isn't a factor..   but money is...    thanks guys   ;)
