My guess as far as the braid goes is that the knots he is using is not a good not for braided line. The line is probably slipping not breaking. I could tie 65lb braid to a tree and set the hook as hard as I can and the line will not break. I have set the hook on a dock post before and more than once (dont ask lol) and never broke off. I snaped a fishing pole in half but I find 65lb braid almost impossible to break off on a hookset unless its a fish with sharp teeth or there is a weak point in the line.

If he is still using zebco 202s then yes he is clueless as far as equipement goes. Doesnt mean he cant fish I know a older guy that uses zebcos and can kick some bass lol. At the same time your not going to see anyone on the elite series fishing with them because you are limited to what you can do with them.

Ok what would you consider a deep diving crank bait? 15ft plus? Im looking for a crankbait rod for fishing 10 to 15ft diving crankbait. Would the St. Croix Legend Tournament LTBC70MMs be good for this? Also any other idea would be great thanks.
