i see this ram mount to support the head of the trolling motor in rough water and while trailering. i could really use this in my tracker 165. im wondering though is it removable or does it screw down permanently. i usually line rods on both sides of me and if the mount was on my right hand side i wouldn't be able to line rods there and it would seem kinda in the way on my little tracker front deck. any info? other ways of holding it down. i hate seeing my new 500 dollar motor getting banged around when i gotta go thru rough water. i have the strap towards the front but it doesnt do much for the head.

You can buy the Ram that has a hose clamp and rubber sleave that goes around the head of your trolling motor. It doesn't need to be straight up and down it can be at any wierd angle off the side of the boat doesn't matter when you clamp it down your trolling motor is not moving.

You can also take the fish finder type to the flat side of your trolling motor. Again any angle. What some guys like is that they can pull there trolling motor up for shallow water and not have to drop it back down to move spots.
