fishing flukes

Featured Replies

I have never used one I am just wondering how you work it. what size hook you use and favorite colors. anyone use knockoffs.

I use zoom super flukes in white silver flake and in watermelon black flake I usually rig them on a 4/0 gammie weightless and cast it out let it sink and jerk it and twitch it at diffrent depths in the water column or I put it on a drop hook and pitch it into holes in the weeds let it fall and rip it out let it fall and rip it again.

When I fish a fluke or simular knockoff, I usually fish it in only early morning or in schooling fish situations. I work it really fast, sometimes so fast that the fluke jumps out of the water. This imitates a fleeing baitfish and schooling fish jump all over it. However the water can't be rough, it has to be somewhat calm for this to work. As for hooks I use a 4/0 or 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG. the only color i use is pearl. Try dropshotting it also sometime.

I tend to use the Zoom Super Fluke (haven't found any knock-offs around here) in some of the smaller waters around here. The only ones I use are the pearl white. The smaller waters are really clear and the larger waters I fish have a LOT of shad.

How I fish it all depends on how the bass are hitting. I usually use a 1/0 hook, but weight varies. If they are hitting near the top or fishing a lot of weeds I'll go weightless. If I need to get a little deeper I'll go with 1/4 to 3/8 oz of weight.
