Do you guys feel that the I slide offers poorer hookup than traditional baits with dangling hooks?

Are you talking about the megabass glide bait?

ya, i dont know any other bait named I slide.

Only a few big bait guys here and even less megabass guys.  Might have better luck on swimbait nation or a site like that.  Its not one i fish.

I set the hook on glide baits just like I do on wakebaits. Reel until it loads before you sweep the rod. The rod makes a huge difference also. The wrong rod is going to cause some frustration. I missed a lot of fish when I first started fishing larger glide baits. You also got to remember that the larger the bait is, the more surface area it has with out hooks. So if your getting bit by smaller fish you will be missing some.
