uncle buck bass boat 10 foot

Featured Replies

I,m thinking on buying one does anyone have any experience with them how stable they are how they handle in the wind on small lakes etc.

Thanks Greg

I own an Uncle buck 8ft pond prowler and its pretty darn stable. I have no problem standing in it. However it is a handful in high current/ high wind situations. I usually take it on smaller electric only lakes and its perfect for that. Very easy to load/unload by myself if I need to.

Its a good little boat but I wish I would have gone with a regular aluminum jon boat.

If you get it, make yourself a solid, non-moveable rudder to clamp to the back end.  At one time these were available commercially, but couldn't cite you a source.  Without it, a slight breeze will drive you crazy trying to hold the boat in place.  I had an 8' Bass Hunter and it would spin like a top in the slightest wind.  The rudder will help.

I have a 9 1/2 foot Bass Hunter, similar to an uncle Buck. It is very stable, I've been rocked by large wakes, no problem. As xjbmx said, they are great for ponds and small lakes and are easily loaded/unloaded by one person. I think I'll take jdw174's recommendation and try to make a rudder for my boat, it is easily influenced by current and wind.

They are ok but for the $$, I would much prefer a jon boat.

(and when the seam starts to leak on those, they aren't so easy to launch alone ;)

And it is "when" the seam leaks, and not "if" it leaks.  I would definitely go with a 'loominum rig.

I have a 12 pelican jon boat but it's similar.  It's pretty stable when I stand up, but I usually sit.  I don't have a trailer so I have to put in the back of my truck.  At first it was difficult to load alone but it can be done.  But it's great for small ponds and lakes.

P.S. The rudder is a great idea!

I'd like to thank everyone for thier opinions.I went and bought a alumacraft 14 ' jon boat. When I added up the price they were pretty close,I figured I 'd be better off in the jin boat since I'm 6'3" 245lbs.Thanks for all the information.
