Magic eraser to clean cork handles

Featured Replies

I am in the process of cleaning my equipment and I tried cleaning the cork handle of one my rods with a magic eraser as mentioned here.

Wow, unbelievable how well it worked. The amount of dirt and grime that came out was kind of gross but the rod looks brand new again.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to clean up their gear.

Yep

I've tried different products and methods over the years but keep coming back to the eraser.

Yep works great to clean up cork handles. Add some U40 to keep them clean and holding up once clean.

Be cautious what what else you use them, like don’t clean the exterior of reels with them.  I’ve seen them affect the finish on painted panels on appliances before.

As a painter I use denatured alcohol for a lot of things including cleaning cork. I've used magic eraser but they get chewed up too fast.  One quart of alcohol will last a long time.
