Great Bass Boat for Ponds and Elec Only

Featured Replies

I bought the Bass Baby this winter from a marine supply store and it has worked out great for those small ponds you are looking to throw a little jon boat onto. The bass baby has wheels on the back side so you can wheel it anywhere. It is light enough one guy can load and unload into the back of a truck. A 4 horse electric motor scootes the little guy around. It makes a great little boat for two people and a smaller lake.

I agree.  I have one very similar.

I have the Stalker.  It is on a small jet ski trailer.  I tow it back and forth to the lake with my Craftsman tractor.  Before I moved on a lake, I would throw it into the back of my pick up.  Great little boat for the price!  ;)

I have a Stalker, too. Just throw it in the back of the truck, load and unload by myself. Best investment I've made in a long time!

I have a Stalker II and it is a fine little rig. I even bought a 5hp B+S for it. It does well on small water and creeks/rivers. I figured out that it is imposible to sink though, apparently it has foam in it and wont go under. The nose dove into a wake while @ full throttle and filled the boat before I knew. I started grabbing gear and didnt notice that the motor was pushing the boat farther under the water. By the time I cut the engine the entire boat was under water and just the motor was dry. It slowly floated back up and then I used my TM to get to the dock which was only 150 yards away. Now I have total confidence in its insinkability. I have decided to get a big boat for big water soon though.

I like the wheels on the back idea but for the money, I'll take a jon boat any day.  MUCH more room and much more versatile.  I paid less for my jon WITH trailer than dirk did for his basshunter (which has been retired and replaced with a jon)

The nice part about either of these is that they don't NEED a trailer(although they are a nice add-on) and they can both be loaded/unloaded by 1 person.

Either one is better than the bank ;)

I had the pelican bass raider and really liked it. But I think I like my Porta-Bote better. If I had a truck I wouldn't have to worry about putting it together every time I go fishing. This thing is really stable and virtually indestructible. It also floats when full of water but is kinda pricey.

Gotta, what is the weight of your boat without seats? I don't see that on the site.

Not exactly sure... maybe 100 lbs or less???

A few years ago... I could lift it into the back of my pickup (small nissan) by myself if I needed to.

Now... sometimes I need to push it/pull it through the sand/muck when the lake level is down (tractor doesn't have enough power to pull the trailer through the mud). With gear, this sometimes sucks only cause the flat bottom suctions to the muck!
