still haven't got my boat back

Featured Replies

>;)  Today is exactly one month since I brought my boat to get the gear box repaired on my outboard.  When I took it in the guy told me he would have to order the parts and it would take one more day for the mechanic to repair it.  I hadn't heard back from him in two weeks so I called to see what was up.  He said one of the parts was on back order, but assured me it wouldn't be much longer.  At the end of the next week he said he still hadn't got the part, and I definitely wouldn't have my boat back for at least another week cause the mechanic was going on vacation for a week.  That was last week.  I called yesterday, and he says he still hasn't gotten the part yet, but it had been shipped. >:(

This is not cool.  Not only have I been an entire month without my lifeline to sanity, but it has been good fishing, and I have since been to Bass Pro Shop and got some new baits, and my wife got me a lot more stuff from Bass Pro for Father's Day.  I CAN NOT WAIT to get back on the water.  I hope sooo much I can get my boat tomorrow before the weekend.  This sucks! :'(

I feel your pain man! Although I just picked mine up yesterday at lunch, it has been in and out of the frickin shop all spring! Grinds on the nerves (AND THE POCKET BOOK). Makes a fisherman want to take some boat engine repair classes!

Hope you are able to get her wet this weekend! Hang in there!

Don't know anything about the shop you took it to, but maybe talk to another shop and see if they can get the parts. a few years after  I got my boat ( about 1998)I had mine at a shop. they said that the parts they need where hard to get and had to wait till the came  over from Japan ( have a suzuki)  had it for 6 months, lost a whole boating/fishing season. Got really p#$sed off. call another shop and asked if they could fix it quiker. told them what was wrong and they said they had that part in stock. infact they has several of those parts and said they are very common and easy to get. Picked up my boat from the first shop and took it to the other one. They had it fixed and running the next day. just food for thought.

Been there..done that!  If you trust the shop just try to be patient.  If not, get a second opinion.  That's exactly why I now put my boat in the shop at end of each season...so they can have PLENTY of time to get it fixed before I need it again.  I know that when things break you don't have much choice about when to put it in the shop.  Good luck getting her back for the weekend.
