Are Soft Plastics Freeze/Thaw Stable?.....

Featured Replies

Just as the title asks, are they freeze/thaw stable?  I was going to store some of my gear and tackle in an unheated shed. Temps have routinely been going below 0°. Will they be damaged?  Thanks.....

Shouldn’t be a problem, I use quite a few different plastics for lake trout through the ice, sometimes the air temps are -20-30c on the way out. Never had a problem with them and some have seen many trips out onto the ice and back.

Thanks! They're headed outside. My bedroom was getting a bit congested between tackle and kayak gear....

I have noticed that baits with salt will freeze, and then when they thaw. They will get wet. Not sure if the salt traps moisture and freezes. If they are air right in a bag or box, they'll be fine. But if you leave them out, they'll freeze and then get wet when they thaw.  Ruined more baits than I'd like to admit because of this.

I have them in their original bags, in the sealed bags of worm wallets, and in a sealed trunk. I should be ok..... (I hope)
