2.75 Swimbait on E6X 3/4 to 2 Ounce Rod?

Featured Replies

I just bought the E6X Swimbait Rod and would like to throw the Duo Realis Swimbait on it, but it's .75 ounces heavier than recommended. What should I do?

A lot of guys go over the rating and its not a huge deal.  Do NOT try and power cast with a rod over its rating.  The listed numbers are just a guide.   If you have fished enough you will know what a loaded blank should feel like and if the blank is struggling.  I have a heavy action st croix that feels great on 2oz but its rated to 1.5.  I have no plans on going over 2 but i needed a little stretch to make it work for my fishing plan.  It is a risk and you may brake the rod.  Matt Allen tells stories about casting a 6 inch hud on a medium rod.  I will not go near that far.  Just lob the bait dont power it to down town and you should be ok...
