Lews hypermag

Featured Replies

I was looking at the hyper mags online and from what I could see they are pretty good reels. Wondering if anyone has any input on them

Nah, but I'll buy one eventually (That's what I said about the Magnesium one too). Check out W2Fs article about it though.

They are extremely good reels and IMO are superior to anything around $299 MSRP such as the Revo Premier. The only think I don't car for is the grips on the handle, but that is just personal preference. Ebay has some great deals on them.

I have one. Here are my thoughts on the reel:

Pros:
* Super light but still feels solid.
* Good torque to fight bigger fish (my biggest was 4.1#).
* good combo for a decent price (I got mine through Black Friday for 260 USD)

Cons:
* MGL reels are in general very vounerable to scratches (be aware and put a reel cover on it when not used)
* Shines with lures above 1/2oz. FOr lighter lures I dont think the spool and the breaking system is refined enough

Overall decent reel but did not necessarily blow me away. Is my frogging reel now (had bought it as my Jig reel, but did not handle lighter lures, so bought the Steez SV TWS for it instead).

interesting, i was intending on getting it for jigs and whatnot. thanks for letting me know.
