Shimano Chronarch MGL 150 or curado 200k?

Recommended Posts

Pairing it with a MHF rod for bladed/football/swim jigs, spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits and soft swimbaits.

Also need one one for a MM rod for jerkbaits, squarebills and poppers.

Any recommendations on these two reels for these two applications?

Thx for the input.

Being that I have both, depends on how much you wanna spend. Both are great.

i love both of these reels and if I had to break down in simplest terms...

if im going to throw heavier moving baits, I'd just get the curado and save money. It performs/casts 3/8 ounce and up, as well as any.

For my lighter techniques ( smaller top waters, small cranks, and plastics) I'd get the chronarch mgl or even the curado 70. They will perform consistently better in the lower weight spectrum. and just as well with heavier baits.

I have them both.  They are both great reels.  I agree with poolshark, if your just using it for moving baits I'd save the money and get the Curado.  If you wanted it for lighter baits and  more finesse presentations, I'd shell out the extra money for the Chronarch.  I use the Chronarch mostly for unweighted worms and senkos.

Both reels are awesome for casting. For lighter baits like a jerkbait, I'd go with the MGL. Since you seem to need two reels, I'd recommend buying one of each and seeing for yourself which you prefer for which baits.

I like 200-sized reels for anything that casts well. With 150-sized reels, you'll be able to cast out most of your spool. I use the 200k for spinnerbaits and deep cranking, and I like it a lot.

Same from me.  Money?  But I had gift cards for the MGL.

Which one is better to throw heavier lures (up to 1oz)? Are they are capable of heavy cover flipping?
