Hi,

I am wondering if the Metanium MGL 8.5:1 capable of flipping 1oz jigs in heavy cover.

Any experience on this?

Cheers!

You can flip with any baitcasting reel regardless of manufacturer or price point.

Since the reel is engaged throughout the process, a quality drag is more critical.

I dont have that reel but I'm sure you're good.

Thanks. Drag is def. part of the equation but I think equally important is the torque that the reel can provide without feeling geary or simply overwhelmed.

I am wondering on the general ability of the Metanium here and the longterm view as well.

probably won't use the reel much while flipping. Pitching is a different story though. Any decent reel should be able To handle anything these days. If I can throw 1/4 ounce shaky heads with a 30 dollar baitcaster one that costs 300 bucks should be able to pour my morning coffee
