Repairing a Cracked Screen On Garmin Unit

Featured Replies

Like an idiot I dropped my Garmin EchoMap 70 and cracked the screen.  The picture and pixels are perfectly fine, just the screen is cracked.  I talked to Garmin and they keep offering me a refurbished unit as a replacement for like $300.  I'm wondering if anyone knows ways of replacing screens.  The unit isn't under warranty anymore and I'm willing to pay for repairs, just not $300 for a refurbished unit.

I appreciate the suggestion but for $400 I could buy the same unit practically brand new.  No way am I paying a $395 minimum for a cracked screen.  I'll go to them if I ever get a $2500 unit and drop that one!
