Spiderwire ultracast ultimate braid

Featured Replies

Curious if anyone's tried this line.  Been a fireline fan for years, still am only negative is the fraying after about 5 months of use.  Have a friend that suggests this spiderwire, think this is a new model curious if anyone has used it, likes it ???

Bump

I have only used spiderwire braid, red packaging. Spooled two spinning reels with 10 lb braid yellow last year. Color ran pretty fast but no fraying or break offs. Good line.

This year I went with kastking in 10 lb and 50 lb, had to try it for the price.

I haven't used that particularly spiderwire, but my go-to braid has been spiderwiere EZbraid for some time now. I like the smoothest and diameter of it. It's very small and slides well through small eyelets. Yet, it's very strong for it's size. What does the ultracast offer for a difference? Hard to imagine it being much smoother or easier to cast.

Not sure what else it offers,  but looks like it came out 2014, but don't see much written about, came across a deal on some so I'm,going to give it a whirl. Haven't received,it yet. The videos of the testers say it's the best, but that's also why they receive it so I don't know

Sounds like a good reason to try something: a deal on it! :D Keep us informed... if you can test it against EZbraid, I'd appreciate that too.

Maybe, but each brand and model has different characteristics, it's not like there are only two braids and it's just different packaging.

Given that braid can last for years, I don't mind paying a little more what I want.

For me, there are better braids out there.  It's all personal preference
