Have any of you guys used the Lew's TP1 Speed Stick and/or Lew's Mach 1 Speed Spool? I was thinking of getting these and pairing them up together to be one of my all-purpose workhorse rods. I would be getting the 7-foot MHF rod. Any feedback is welcome!

I have 4 tp-1 rods. A 7'3 heavy and 3 7' mh. They are superb rods for 99 bucks. They do run a tad on the stiff side compared to my other rods, but I like that. Haven't had any issues with the rods at all. The winn grips are a plus but they do get dirty easy. Not a big deal to me

I agree on stiff, I have a medium-fast that is rated from 1/16-3/4 oz. I'd say more accurately that it's a 1/2-1 oz rod with best performance at 3/4 oz. I use it for drop shotting or as an actual inshore rod for redfish, etc, but not much else. I'm looking to get something for finessing cause I enjoy fishing lighter tackle.

I have a TP-1 spinning rod and I like it a lot.  I have a 7’ medium one that I have been using for wacky rigs and tubes with braid and a leader.  It was between that rod and a Duckett ghost and the Lews just seemed to feel better in my hand. Plus it has microwave guides and the Winn grips.

How heavy of jigs, spinners, and chatterbait? Also what type of cover? And what line do you plan to use?

Generally 3/8 ounce to 1/2 ounce. The cover is fairly light, just some sunken branches and i plan on using 30lb braid with a fluro leader

For the mach 1 it's a great reel for the money.  I don't personally have one but a friend of mine does and it's got centrifugal and magnetic braking i'm pretty sure and it casts far so it's a great real for the price from what i've seen.  Good luck!

Would any of you guys say the rod is too stiff to cast, say 1/4 ounce lures like a light texas rig or crankbait? I've heard some people say it doesnt cast lighter lures well but what do you guys say?

1/4 ounce weight plus plastic you're golden. 1/4 ounce crank you'll probably struggle. It's a great single hook rod, not a great treble hook bait rod

How well does the rod handle braid? Does it mess up the guides?

I run anywhere from 30-65lb braid on mine. And have caught some big fish. Never had a problem.

All these were caught on using tp-1 rods

Hope I'm not too late but Bob Brown at lews specifically recommended the TP1 crank back model for chatterbaits. I was asking about a more expensive model initially and he told me to get the cheaper TP1 without question. In his words the perfect chatterbait rod. After using it for sometime I have to agree. Phenomenal rod, perfect in every way.

Thanks for the input! Maybe im misinterpreting this but wouldnt the bladed jig rod be better or as good since a chatterbait is a bladed jig?
