Small Mouth jigging rod

Featured Replies

Looking to get a new spinning rod for jigging small mouth bass.  Going to Lake Champlain and jigging 3/16 oz jigs in some rocky areas.  Looking to spend $100 - $150.  Thinking maybe St. Croix Mojo Bass.  Any suggestions?

Welcome to Bass Resource!  I don't really have a rod recommendation.  Just thought I'd welcome you to the Forum, ask a couple questions and get your question bumped up all at the same time!

What type and size of line are you using? What type of jig? Shakey head?  Skirted jig? Does 3/16 oz jig mean the head weight of the jig?  Or the total weight? (I recently discovered the 3/16 ounce skirted jigs I use actually weigh 3/8 ounce with skirt, hook and trailer!) Are you fishing open water, moderate cover, heavy cover?  Weeds?  Wood?  Rock?

The more information you can give, the better suggestions you will get from members.  Good luck on your rod search!

I've never fished with a Mojo Bass but I know other SC rods and they make very nice actions and powers tailored for bass and jig fishing. Whatever you choose, I suggest you use braid with a fluoro/copoly leader to enhance feel and set hooks.

I think you are between the Mojo bass or check out the Daiwa Tatula 7' MF at Sportman's Outfitters for $110 which is a nice $40 savings.

I would take a serious look at the st Croix mojo 6'8" m-xf spinning rod. Perfect for single hook plastics. Love mine.
