THE SPAWN IS ON!!!

Featured Replies

It may not be in the rest of the country, but the spawn is on in Southeast Louisiana. Figured I’d start a thread in here to see what everyone likes to use to catch bass off of beds. I personally like a T-rigged soft plastic, and my two favorites are the Zoom Baby Brush Hog or the 6” Lizard. I use a pegged tungsten weight, usually 1/4oz if I can get away with it but sometimes 3/8oz in the wind. Junebug is my go-to color year round down here because I am always fishing stained or muddy water. I suppose if I was sight fishing I might changed to a white or chartreuse or anything I could see in the water, but I’m pretty much always blind casting beds... or at least where I think there’s a bed.

Go ahead ladies and gentlemen... share your bed fishing secrets!!!

Wacky rigged lizards... The males and females alike

hate 'em with a passion.

Ummm...lakes and ponds still frozen over up here. The spawn won't happen for me for another 2-3 months...lol.

I have a blast sight fishing them in our clearer waters with a Berkley Havoc Rocket Craw or Tubes. Two of my top producers

This post just makes me realize how much I hate central Ohio.  Everything is still ice up here, and once they unthaw, a Bass of a lifetime is 5-6 pounds.  Depressing.

To address the actual question, I always like to T-rig a brush hog and toss that.

Never thought about wacky rigging a lizard. You throw it weightless? I’ve got some Owner wacky head weedless  jig heads that I love. 1/8oz and 3/16oz. I don’t think I’ve ever thrown a weightless wacky rig

Yup. If they're deeper or you want to drop it faster, use a

wacky jig head, or crimp on some weight. The fall is slow

and enticing.
