Stick bait is floating

Featured Replies

I make soft plastic baits . I just started over the winter got out to test my lures today and unless I added weight they all floated on the surface . The plastisol I use  does not say floating and there is no air bubbles in the baits . What is causing this i use the econo plastic from lurecraft . Should I use there regular plastisol .

I pulverize some kosher salt with a blender and add that to my stick baits when making them. The more salt the higher the sink rate. Good luck.

You can use cheese salt in your plastic to add weight,I use up to 40% salt in my stick baits.

Agreed.  Also, use them for Carolina rigs.

Why kosher or 'cheese' salt?

Just curious what's the drawback of using table salt?

Here is the top secret formula to get a stickbait to fall like a Senko. Be aware it will make the bait weaker and also more opaque/cloudy.

4 oz medium plastic

1 tablespoon softener

2 tablespoon pickling or popcorn salt from Walmart
