I usually throw my T-rig on straight 30# braid, but my areas have been getting quite a bit of pressure so I’ve decided to add a “finesse” T-rig setup to my arsenal. I have a 7’ M-F with a Daiwa Tatula 100 7.3:1. Weightless Senkos (sometimes with 1/8oz or 3/16oz bullet weight), trick and finesse worms with 1/8-1/4oz weight, and a 1/4oz craw or creature style bait. I’ve tried 15# and currently have 12# on, but should I be using something a little lighter?

12# is a favorite size of mine.... mostly for MH rods.  Quite a few of my Medium rods have 8# on them.  Depends on cover.

 

EDIT: Probably should mention I used to do a lot of fishing with 4# mono.

I feel like 12# for everything except when I got to a trick or finesse worm. This is where 8# or even 6# on a spinning rod is the way I’d go. I might go with 10# and give that a shot next time. 

I personally feel 12# is a good all around line size for either power.

You are asking about braid not monofilament line lb test for your baitcasting reel?

Going under 20 lb test braid isn't a good idea with bait casting reels IMO. As much as I don't like leaders it would be a better option for you if you believe the bass are line shy.

I really like 12lb and if I'm doing more finesse than I will go down to 10 or 8lb but if I'm going to do finesse I generally use a M or ML spinning rod with 10lb braid and fish a 6-12lb leader.

Personally, if you are comfortable with braid, stick with it and add a fluorocarbon leader like Sunline Sniper or equivalent. and back off the drag a little.

 

Just my opinion.

Wow, 12lb braid must be like fishing with sewing thread on a baitcaster.
