Central Jersey Small Lakes

Featured Replies

Hey guys, looking to start a thread on the smaller lakes of central NJ.

I'd consider central jersey as being everything in between Carenegie and Mirror lakes, and including those two. Where are your favorite little lakes? Excluding places like Manasquan and the Delaware, I'm interested in hearing what my fellow New Jersey anglers have to say about the small lakes that we have to fish. To be specific, I'm wondering about places that are big enough to launch and fish my 17' boat comfortably.

I'm asking because I'm getting tired of the places I've been fishing, and would like to see some new water, if anyone wants to bring up a bank fishing place go for it, as I feel like these NJ lakes don't get mentioned enough.

Not looking to spot burn, just want to hear about some places that I may have overlooked or failed to give a second try after a bad first experience (I've had such experiences with Farrington, Deal, Mirror, and a few others).

Thanks for the replies dudes.

When I lived in NJ, Assunpink WMA was always a good spot.

The 3 lakes there are good. I was stationed in Lakehurst, and my brother lives in Old Bridge, so I've hit most spots between the two. There is some very good fishing there, but its kept close to the vest by the locals. The pickerel fishing on the southern portion is very very good.

Spruce Run (more towards the NE side of the state).  Nuff said!
