Good deal on this Skeeter?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I am in the market for a bass boat. I am no expert on the boat market, so I figured I would ask the pros.

I have a guy wanting to sell me his 1999 Skeeter ZX 202c. It’s a 22 foot boat, tandem axle trailer, Yamaha VMAX 200hp, some kind of fancy charging system, hydraulic steering, new tires on the trailer, Minn Kota trolling motor, two fish finders and is pretty good shape overall. Runs great and he says he has only had non ethanol gas in it.

He he is asking $9000 for it. Any idea if this is a good deal or worth the investment? Anything I should look for in particular. Thanks in advance for the input!

You can go to NADA for suggested selling value. $9,000 is mid range base price point.

The 1st questions that I would ask are; has the boat been garaged? ( garaged boats are a plus) Running hours on the OB, ( under 300 hrs is a plus) has the engine been rebiult, has the boat been in salt water, ( salt water in a no no), has the boat need repaired, are you the original owner? ( always a plus).

Take the boat for a test drive. Engine should start quickly, no stress cracks in the gel coat, storage lockers should work, open /close, battery compartment and batteries must be clean with no corrosion, livewell systems in working condition, electronics in working condition ( plan on upgrading the sonar units), trolling motor working in good condition ( plan on upgrading the TM). Factor upgrades into you offer.
