Hello Folks, this may be in the wrong forum but I looked in the south east and found nothing, so here's my question. 

My son lives and works in Knoxville TN and I'm planning on making a trip there with my boat and take him fishing and trying to decide which lake would you choose. The two are Douglas or Cherokee.

He's fished both on his kayak and bank fished, one of these two is where he wants to go.

He's checking with some of his fishing buds and I'm decided to ask you guys.

My first thought was to go to Dale Hollow, but it's to far for me to travel in my time frame.

So anyone who has fished either, which would you choose? 

It'll be late April to Mid May.

Hard to go wrong with either one.  On a personal note I would probably take Cherokee.  Just like all the rock and the clarity.  Plus a bazillion smallies.  I'm no expert there and am just learning but that would be my choice.  Could be great topwater that time of year.

Both are good but I agree that Cherokee is probably a better fun fishing lake with a variety of species with big smallmouth.  Douglas has some big ones but can be know for hit and miss days.  Eastern TN is an excellent area in the country for access to good lakes.  Have fun.
