Boat not tracking straight

Featured Replies

I have had my 14' aluminum v-hull out 6 times now.  When I am heading across the lake it looks like the boat is not tracking straight.   The front seems to be more to the left than the rear, that is just what it seems like in the boat.  I have not been able to watch it from shore while someone else drives it.  I currently have a 40lb bow mount and a 28lb stern mount trolling motors on it running simultaneously.  It also did it  when I had just the stern drive on there.  does it have to do with the fact that I am electric only and just not going fast enough to get on plane?  Could it be weight distribution?  My battery is in the aft right corner if that matters.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Since you are only running electric motors does it really matter? Anywho, I would put my money on the weight disturbition in the boat. My 1432 does the same thing also. I run a 34 on the rear and stear it with a 28 on the front. Some times i can manuaver the weight around to get it to track straight but I don't let it bother me too much.

It could be weight, also could be that one or both motors are not centered. Most bow TM don't mount directly in the center. usially on the left or right of the center line. When the motor is straight it will pull the boat to one side or the other. the motors are pulling at different angles than the way the boat wants to run true. You might have to change the angle of one of the motor to straighten it out. I know on my 14foot V hull starcraft with a 55# on the bow and 50# on the stern ( I also have a 15HP merc on the back) since the rear motor is not centered and the bow motor is off to one side I have to aim the rear motor a little off straight to get it to run true.
