My wife just had our daughter about 10 days ago so my fishing days are extremely limited this year. Im wondering if i should bother trying to get out saturday or just save up the brownie points and cash em in on a different day. Heres the weather outlook... what do you think?

I personally will fish any day and in any condition. All you can do is go at it and try.

Saturday will be a rainy and cold day.

 

Sunday will be blue bird skies and cold and the bass will have lockjaw.

 

Wait until next weekend and give the dogwoods another week to bloom.

 

Stay home and enjoy your family.

After a cold front moves through the area, the bass have already eaten and will just hover in deeper water or against a submerged object and not chase any prey or baits that come there way.

 

Now right before and during a cold front moving through the bass are eating a lot, fast, and it is great fishing.  But remember, after the front has moved through your area the bass will get "lockjaw" and not be in any mood to hunt or eat.

 

We will see "blue bird" skies after the cold front moves through.

 

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. My club had a bass tournament on Lake Gaston this past weekend after a nasty snow and rain storm had hit the area on Saturday, and the winners had five fish for 14.5 pounds, including a six pounder. Second place had 12 pounds. But the third place on down to last caught three or less, and nothing to get excited about.

 

That is 9 hours on the water with 12 guys fishing.

 

At blast off they had to sweep the snow and ice off the boats and cars to get to the ramp.

 

So when we say "lockjaw" it means the bass are not feeding at that time.

Alright. Figured thats what it was. Wasnt sure though. 

Was snowing here today in VA and suppose to be 81 fri

Yeah planning on taking a half day on friday my self.  Might hit a night float. 

Went to the pond on Southlake Blvd for about 2 hours or so around 10:15am before heading into the office........and I got my a** skunked .

 

Didn't really walk around the entire pond, just mainly fish the tree line and all sides of the peninsula around Century 21.

Had 3 rods with me with white Chatterbait, medium shad swim bait, and pumpkin senko. Had hits on all 3 but couldn't land anything. Lost 1 nice bass 2ft from the bank which really ticked me off.

 

But at least I was able to get my line wet before work. Debating should I stay local tomorrow or hit up my buddies private pond in Middlesex right off Hwy 17, bout a 40 min drive.

 

Where are all you guys gonna try your luck at this weekend?
