I fish a large pond/small lake. The morning hours are great with no wind at all....but around noon it just whips right through the small valley that this body of water is in. I don't get huge waves or anything but it sure is enough to move my coleman 4 man raft around. Sick of paddling to just stay in position. The bottom of the pond/small lake is muddy with some gravel in it. What do you recommend for size and style of anchor?

I was thinking about a 10lb mushroom anchor. Would this work? What else would I need besides an anchor rope?

I used a 7lb on my 12ft Zodiac, and it didn't do much of anything. With inflatables, I would say get 2 5 or 10lb anchors. Drop one off each side. Otherwise, if you only use one, the wind will just blow you in circles around the anchor.

Milk jug filled with sand wont be able to get a bite on the bottom and whole you in place when the wind is blowing.    Get two 10 anchors from walley-world and be done with it.

I don't know about rafts, but I just got a canoe this year and have used a five-pound dumbbell that works great in the soft bottoms on all my ponds and lakes.

As long as you use two of them, anything five pounds or better will hold you in place.  I assume you are fishing small lakes or ponds.

THanks guys. Going to pick up 2 10lbers than. Appreciate the advice and tips. Never thought of picking up two but that makes a lot of sense.
