25 h.p. Mariner Problem

Featured Replies

Last winter I did not run the gas out of the lines. I dont know if that is the problem or what, but everytime I take my boat out and throttle it up it chokes out. I can go slower and it will be fine, but once I throttle all the way up it just shuts down. I changed the gas in the gas tank. I tried another gas tank. I tried running it with the gas cap off. I don't know what it could be I took it to the boat mechanics in my area. Neither mechanic could find anything wrong with it. I dont know if they hooked it up to diagnostics or what they did. Any help would be appreciated thank you! -Robby

Check the spark plugs and all the fuel lines.  I hate when you cant figure things out.

Good luck man!

sounds like the carbs need cleaned/rebuilt, or maybe just adjusted

running the gas out doesn't stop this from happening. You should always use a fuel stabilizer to help prevent the fuel sysytem from gumming up. when storeing.

I never run the gas out of my motors, just add the stabilizer and fog them.

Your carb(s) may be gummed up.

That's it; Can't believe your mechanics couldn't get it  :)

Carb. Maybe a needle sticking to the seat.

So add a can of Sea Foam (or your favorite carb detergent) to your fuel and try running it through.  Sometimes it works and it's less than $10.
