How to wire aerator

Featured Replies

Ive got an old boat Ive been fooling with, there's an aerator on it but I dont know if it works, its not hooked up and I dont really know how its supposed to be wired. It has three wires, a green wire, a brown wire, and a black wire. Anybody know how to wire one of these things?

well i know the black wire is ground, im pretty sure the brown wire is hot, but im not sure about the green wire. If i knew what the purpose of the three wires coming off of the aerator were then it would be no problem for me to wire it up to a switch but anyhow the boat is a 1985 Performance Thruster, its a 15 1/2 ft fiberglass bass boat. Then again I guess maybe black is ground and the other two one pumps water in the other pumps water out, I dont really know.

The third wire was for a timer.  brown and black should make it run all of the time.

Thanks Bud, I believe you've answered my question about that third wire. I believe I know what I gotta do now, appreciate it.

Based on the age of your boat, I agree with Bud.  The third wire goes to a timer.  Does your boat have an "Auto" switch for the aerator?  If so, that's where the green wire will tie in.  The timer on my 1990 was toast, so I bought a variable timer from BPS for about $40.
