These are two boats that I'm looking at that are in my particular price range ($15k-$17k).  I was just wondering what the main/big difference are between these boats and which one are generally seen as the better boat.    They would be around the year 2000 give or take a year.  I am probably going to take a ride in a R83 sometime soon just wanted your input.  Thanks

The 518 would be considered part of Rangers Elite or high end line.  The R83/93 was an entry level model with fewer options, engine choices and color choices for cost conscience customers who wanted to get into a ranger but didn't want to spend the big bucks to do it.  Most of the major manufacturers offer some sort of elite line and then a budget line.  Build wise, the quality of the boats is the same.

Like cart7 said, the 518 is the higher end. I have no complaints from my 2001 518. Very well built boat.
