bionic baitcaster?
I bought 4 for my wife when they first came out. They are pretty much just cheap junk. I'll stick with my shimano's.

Do I have a problem?
I don't have a pool either, so i just use the bathtub. I've dropped every jig and trailer combination and shakeyhead rig immaginable in there.

cost of running a bass boat
If I didnt spend it going fishing, I would spend on something else.

Shimano Crucial Drop Shot Rod
I was thinking about getting a Shimano Crucial Drop Shot spinning rod 6ft. 8in. m/xf. for shakeyheads. Does anybody have any experience with this rod. I will be pairing it with a Shimano Symetre 2500 and 8lb. seaguar invizx. I usually use 1/8 oz. jigheads, 3/32 on occasion.

your wife , girlfreind or daughter
My wife used to be into fishing bigtime, but after the kids came along she just goes occasionally. She uses a baitcaster better than most men in my bass club. She has caught more 5-7LB. bass than I care to count. We did very well in local tournaments. My seven year old daughter likes to fish, but I do not see her being into it like me and my wife once were. A few months ago at a pond close to home I had her fishing with a spinning reel and she did catch a small bass on a shakeyhead worm, and I could tell she was enjoying it. She saw me catch a nice one on a buzzbait, and she said, dad that was so awesome. So who knows ,I might have two female fishing partners before long.

2000 Ranger 518 versus R83/R93??
Like cart7 said, the 518 is the higher end. I have no complaints from my 2001 518. Very well built boat.

Bass boat operating costs (?)
A boat is nothing more than a hole to throw your money in. Boat payment-$270, $75 everytime I go to the lake for gas and oil, just spent $400 for engine maint. $300 for new depthfinder (they dont last forever),$300 for new batteries every couple of years. When I back down the ramp at 5:00am I forget about all of that.

TOPWATER A SOUTH THING? never in PA???
Never fished in Pa. but here in Ga. you will get your arm broke with a buzzbait. Its one of my no.1 choice for summer and fall bigguns.

What Type of Boat do you fish with?
2001 Ranger 518 vx 200hp yamaha. Not exactly a speedboat, but one heck of a ride.

Jig Rod and Reel Setup?
Most of my jig fishing is with a 7 1/2 foot falcon flipping stick, 25 pound trilene big game, and shimano castaic. Handles every situation I come across, and can handle those pigs that bite the jigs.

Another search bait question
I usually start out fast, but fast does not always work. Then i go to a jig. I fish a lot of lakes with docks,so thats what I key on. If I catch a couple of good fish off a certain type of feature of a couple of docks I fish nothing but those features. In spring it is common to find big fish under the walkways,.in summer its usually toward the end posts of the deeper docks. Once you find where they are posistioned you can save alot of time that way.

The invisible red theory....
I think the red theory is just a bunch of crap. Fish are not suppose to see red line, but they say that red hooks make a difference? Ive used red hooks, catch just as many fish with regular hooks.
