Guys I have seen more problems lately with someone having a problem reading or understanding what they see or what it shows on their depth finder. Solutions:

Read the manuel

Take the unit off of automatic-MOST IMPORTANT

Turn off fish marker

Set the unit to your specs

The manuel will describe everything above and more. Most will even show pictures describing what you are likely to see on your unit. If a unit is set correctly it will show strands of underwater grass. They are that clear. Get somewhere you are familiar with the contor and idle across it so you will know what you are looking at. It is very simple if you will take the time to familiarize yourself with the unit. Take the time to learn it and it will be a joy. If you don't, just get yourself an anchor to drop overboard. Reading the botton contor is one of only many things I use my units for. When you understand what it will do you can even tell the type of bottom you are over just by looking at the screen.             TAKE THE UNIT OFF AUTOMATIC!!! PUT IT IN MANUEL OPERATION MODE and LEAVE IT THERE!!!
