Flippin’ rod recommendation 7.5-8.0”

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I have a 7’-2” flippin rod which is a great rod in a lot of applications, but am thinking of getting a longer rod for certain situations in the 7’-6” to 8’-0” range.  Flippin and Bubba-shotting.  Although I’m looking for a longer rod, I also want a light rod weight, well balanced and very sensitive not just a meat stick... willing to spend a little money to get something worthwhile - $250-400 range.  Suggestions..?

Best flipping stick I've ever used is the Dobyns Champion Extreme 795. It has a pool-cue backbone, but the tip is flexible. Overall, the rod feels lighter than any flipping stick I've used. They can be found occasionally on flea markets.

I've got 4. all I made with MHX blanks. 1 is 8 feet, use it for punching.other 3 are light as my casting rods.
