This could be come a problem for people with the recessed foot pedal. The

other day while fishing in the rain, I throwed a used lizard on the deck floor.

It some how got into the recessed drain. It filled up with water and shorted

my trolling motor out and I had to take the leads of my batteries and couldn't

use the trolling motor the rest of the day. How ever it did dry in a couple days and went back to working. Just thought I would pass this on down the line.

I'm thinking about putting some rolled up screen wire or something to keep this

from happening again.

Thanks for the warning.  I thought about installing one on my boat.  I would have never thought of that either.  :-?

I have had one for a couple of years and this summer bought a new depthfinder.  I was in the bilge installing a transducer.  I was amazed at all the stuff (grubs, small jigs, and various other items ) which could only have come through that drain.

It is called the flatfoot.  It is the one made for Motor Guide.  They also have one for Minn Kota.

i have the same unit that that jig man has   when i put mine in a ranger i think the hardest part was digging out all the foam to get to the drain pipe that goes from front of boat  to rear and drill a hole in plastic pipe to install drain plastic tube  kb

I think you could make the recessed foot pedal out of a stainless steel serving pan found at any restaurant supply store.  They do sell deep ones drill a couple of holes in the lip and your good to go.

I use a Pro Control Tray by Polyfab.  It's a heavy plastic with a recessed area at the rear for drainage.  Theres a small through hull type fitting in there that the drain tube attaches to on the backside for drainage down into the hull.  I suppose a piece of soft plastic or trash could get down in there and block it.  I guess it's just a deal where anyone that owns a recessed tray needs to check that drain after each trip to make sure it's not plugged up.
