Looking for a mentor/partner

I am a somewhat new bass fisherman, and I want to try to learn as much as I can to become a great fisherman. I am currently located in Virginia in the Hampton Roads area and would greatly appreciate If I could find someone to go fish tournaments and to learn everything I can about fishing. I haven’t participated in tournaments yet.

Join a local club. We have a ton of VA locals, so hopefully they can chime in with some pointers to some good local clubs.
