Ok time to replace them and I was considering trex, wouldnt need carpet and but am worried about how slippery it gets.  Anyone try it for bunk boards on their trailer? Pro's Con's...? thanks

Interesting.  Might be a bit "hard" to rest your boat on but the the boat would slide off much easier.  Hmmmmmm

I remember they use to sell plastic runners you put on top your carpet for the boat to run up on.

You will find that products such as Trex do not have as much strength  parrelell to the grain as a lumber 2x6 etc. That said , if there are more attachment points to the frame of the trailer then it would most likely be satifactory.

What if you ripped a piece and counter sunk the screws into the existing boards

I have ultimate bunkboards on one of my boat trailers. It is much easier to load and unlaod the boat but you can't unhook before you start to back down the ramp or the boat will slide off. They dont cause any other problems as long as the boat is straped down. They also last forever and don't have to be replaced like wood and carpet. I will be putting them on my other trailer next. With out the ultimate bunkboards I wouldn't have been able to fish a lot of lakes this year due to low water. The ultimate bunk boards allowed me to push my boat off into the water with out backing all the way into the water. I am friends with the owners of the company but I never thought they were that great and didn't have them on my trailers until one of my buddys bought a boat with the ultimate bunk boards already installed that I borrowed. After trying them out on his trailer I have decided to put them on all my boat trailers.

The only drawback I have seen is 4 o'clock in the morning and some guy has the ramp blocked with his boat sitting on the concrete about half way down the ramp. :-[

That was my concern when I was pulling the boat out and the trex was went going up the hill, cause trex can get very slippery. Best to have a really good winch, LOCKED DOWN. lol
